Frequently Asked Questions

Your Questions Answered

Choosing breast revision or Aspen therapy is a big decision. Below are some of the most common questions we receive from patients considering treatment for breast implant complications.

Aspen Ultrasound Treatment

What is the Aspen System?

The Aspen Multi-Energy System is a clinically proven, non-surgical treatment for capsular contracture. It uses soundwave therapy and massage techniques to soften scar tissue and restore natural softness and symmetry.

Most patients feel little to no discomfort. Some report a tingling sensation, but Aspen is generally painless. In fact, many patients feel relief from pain caused by capsular contracture after treatment.

  • Existing contracture: usually 10 sessions over 3–4 weeks.
  • Preventative: typically 5 sessions starting 2 weeks post-op.

Clinical studies and patient outcomes show up to a 90% success rate for qualified candidates.

Aspen works best for Baker Grade 1–3 contracture. For Grade 4 cases, it can still soften tissue and make revision surgery easier and more effective.

Breast Revision Surgery

When is surgery required instead of Aspen?

Surgery may be recommended if:

  • The capsule is too thick or severe (Baker Grade 4).
  • The implant has ruptured, shifted, or developed rippling.
  • The patient desires a size change or implant removal.

Depending on your needs, revision may include capsulectomy (removal of scar tissue), implant repositioning, or implant replacement. Dr. Charles Sarosy will customize the plan for your best outcome.

Most patients return to normal activities within 1–2 weeks, though strenuous activity should be avoided for 4–6 weeks.

Safety & Results

Is Aspen safe?

Yes. Aspen has been used successfully for years and is considered safe when performed by trained providers. Unlike traditional ultrasound devices, Aspen is specifically designed for capsular contracture.

While Aspen and surgical revision provide excellent results, no treatment can guarantee capsular contracture will never return. Preventative Aspen therapy after implant surgery can reduce the risk of recurrence.
